The luxurious Marigot Bay Resort and Marina can be reached at the end of a winding road. It is nestled into the hills above Marigot Bay, a natural harbor, and guests first arrive at the hotel’s reception, perched on the crest of one of these hills. A swarm of staff members rush to collect your baggage, give you cold towels and refreshments, and generally make a big deal out of your arrival. A walkway then winds down to 127 rooms, the resort’s pools, restaurants, marina, and shops, all of which are nestled within the resort’s undulating and verdant scenery.

This is the third iteration of the building. It initially flourished in the 1950s, when the famous Hurricane Hole bar became a hangout for celebrities like Ava Gardner. Six years after its transformation into a Discovery resort, the hotel was renamed and renovated by the rapidly growing Capella hotel chain to cater to the needs of the premium travel market.
As the resort is so large, it is easy to get lost inside it. The staff’s slogan is “to take the guest to their point of comfort,” which indicates that they will do whatever it takes to get the guest where they need to go.

There is a basement feel to The Rum Cave. Its name alludes to the wide variety of rums it sells, all of which are produced locally, including the top-shelf Chairman’s Reserve, Admiral Rodney, and 1931. Here, customers perch on high stools at barrels that serve as tables. In keeping with the relaxed mood, the menu features a variety of tapas-style small appetizers (nine in all) meant to be shared.
The Grill at 14⁰61⁰ is their flagship restaurant. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and watch the yachts enter and depart the harbor while you dine al fresco or in the restaurant’s comfortable inside seating.
For midday snacks, light fare, and cool beverages while watching the boats come and go from the marina, the Hurrican Hole and Bar is the place to be.

If you’re looking for a casual dining option, the Bayside Cafe is only a short stroll along the waterfront. A wide selection of cuisines can be found in restaurants that are not affiliated with the hotel but are nevertheless conveniently located within the complex.

To reach a charming collection of stores and restaurants, take a quick stroll over a bridge and down a boardwalk that passes the sometimes opulent ships docked in the harbor. At night, when the marina is illuminated, the view becomes quite enchanting as the lights reflect off the harbor water.

The harbor and marina are stunning, and the little beach just across the street is a nice bonus. To top it all off, the Capella experience includes a speedboat transport to Anse Cochon beach that just takes 15 minutes. Additionally, they give up and throw in the towel. The coral reef is beautiful and can be seen by snorkelers in the area.
Less than an hour’s drive will get you to either Castries or Soufriere from Marigot Bay. You can also take a guided tour arranged by the hotel to see tropical and native plants and learn about their medicinal benefits at the Maranatha Botanical Gardens in Soufriere. Then, go to the Tet Paul Nature Trail, where you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the island’s regal twin peaks, the Piton, following a short hike to the top.
